Premonitions is a six piece band from Long Branch, New Jersey. They started out as a band formed back in high school but as the years passed they decided that this was something that they wanted to do for a very, very long time. After multiple line /member changes they finally believe that they’re exactly where they need to be.
Members of Premonitions Include: Ryan,Vinny, Louie, Carl, Willie, Dom
Kaitlyn: Every band has to start somewhere. Can you go back to the very beginning? What/when was the first time you all met each other and when did you decide to start a band?
Premonitions: The current line up is way different than what we originally had, but what is cool about is is: evert member, past and current, are all on good terms and good friends. We all still have the same motivation and ambitions to keep this project going.
Kaitlyn: How long after getting together did you play your first show? Did you have any pre-show jitters or were you all just stoked to get out and play? Had any of you had stage experience prior?
Premonitions: After we had a solid line up, we decided to have our first show after one year of writing/recording our first EP. Considering we opened for about 200 people at The Allstars Tour in 2012, we were crazy nervous to play, but at the same time we were stoked out of our minds! haha. At the time the only member with show experience was our vocalist, Vinny.
Kaitlyn: Do any of you guys play instruments other than those played in the band? Would you consider bringing those talents into the band in the future?
Premonitions: A couple of the guys have side projects going on, so keep on the look out for that. As for now, we’re content with the talents we have, but who knows what the future holds.
Kaitlyn: What about favorite songs? Do you cover any of your favorite songs live or play any covers period?
Premonitions: We all have favorite songs, but one band that we can all jam to on any given day would definitely have to be UnderOath. They’re one band that we all look up to. We don’t cover anything live, but if we find a song we can all relate to than maybe it’ll happen in the future.
Kaitlyn: Planning any upcoming tours or shows?
Premonitions: As for shows, we recently played the Vans Warped Tour at PNC Band Arts Center. The turn out was way better than we had expected. We have a couple of shows coming up in August. One on the 8th in Philly and another with Like Moths To Flames, In Hearts Wake, and more at GameChangerWorld in Howell, NJ. Touring is definitely on our mind right now and we plan to hit the road ASAP.
Kaitlyn: What about a dream tour? If you could play with any bands in any venues, in any country of your choosing, where and who would you play with?
Premonitions: We’ve played and are playing with tons of great bands. A band that we’re definitely amped to share the stage with soon would be Like Moths to Flames. It’s awesome seeing a band rise to their prime so that should be very fun. Dream tour? We could go down the list honestly! haha. Everyone in the band has different interests, although, there is a band that we’ve been jamming to non-stop called Adaliah. Awesome tunes and it would be pretty cool to book dates with them. Check em’ out!
Kaitlyn: Your EP dropped on 7/21, what can you tell us about that?
Premonitions: We have a brand new EP titled, “Desensitized” that dropped on July 21st. It’s streaming off our Bandcamp an Youtube channel. Jam it @ premonitions.bandcamp.com or youtube.com/premonitionsband
Kaitlyn: As for your hometown, do you guys have a favorite place to play at home? Whither it’s a small venue or a practice space, or even a garage or basement?
Premonitions: Our hometown venue would definitely have to be Brighton Bar. We also play at Champs in Trenton, NJ and recently have been playing at GameChangerWorld a lot more often. They’re all pretty cool venues.
Kaitlyn: Any crazy show stories to share with us? Crazy fans or crazy experiences you’ve had through playing show or touring?
Premonitions: There have been a couple shows we’ve played that ended up either being awkward or wild haha. We’ve also ran into some promoter issues but our stories go from people getting laid the fuck out to playing to maybe five people which can be very awkward but hey, you gotta start from the bottom to get to the top. We haven’t really met a fan of ours that’s weird or anything, but even so, we’re pretty cool guys so we’ll talk to anyone really.
Kaitlyn: What is your favorite part of being in a band? What have you learned from your experiences?
Premonitions: What we really enjoy about being in a band being able to share our thoughts, feelings and creativity with anyone willing to take a listen. It means the world to see people sing along with us at shows or even buy our music. It’s that support that keeps us going. We’ve been asked numerous times, “are you even making money?” which honestly is upsetting. As much as we’d love to make this our career, in the end we’re in this for the love and passion of what we enjoy doing. It’s like a addiction that we don’t plan on giving up anytime soon.
